The Delhi High Court on Friday restrained Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor from taking her minor daughter out of the country without the permission of her husband.
Justice Mukul Mudgal gave the order on an application by her husband Sanjay Kapoor challenging the issuance of passport to his daughter without his permission. He
apprehended that Ms. Karisma Kapoor might take his daughter out of the country.
Mr. Justice Mudgal also issued notices to the Union Government and Ms. Karisma Kapoor at her Mumbai address.
He directed all the respondents to file replies to the petition by August 12.
The court further directed the Union Government to communicate the contents of the court order to the Immigration authorities.
The Regional Passport Office had issued the passport to Ms. Karisma Kapoor's daughter on July 23.
Mr. Sanjay Kapoor submitted that the passport had been issued illegally and without following the procedure for issuing a passport to a minor. Both parents must submit their passports for getting a passport to a minor child but this was not done in this case, Mr. Kapoor submitted.
He said that he had the sole right to decide when and where he should apply for a passport for the child. He urged the court to impound the passport to prevent her from using it.
